Report
Hi cobras,
Joyce was the captain for the day as we played away at Twyford comet rockets home ground where Joyce scored in only 17 seconds from the start of the match last time we played there against the diamonds. The game kicked off with both sides playing some good passing football, Dyer and Joyce on the wings played some good early balls to Breedon up front who was working hard as he was being tightly marked by Twyfords defence. Batup and Cornish in defence made some good tackles and clearances when Twyford came into our half, Watkins in the midfield was helping the defenders out buy running up and down the pitch chasing the player with the ball. Hardcastle and Hamilton came on and we really started to make some good chances and after 2 corners and some near misses our first goal came when Hamilton got into some space down the right and his cross / shot! Found its way into the net 1-0.
Joyce headed just wide from a great Hardcastle corner and their goalkeeper had to be in good form to stop us from scoring again .Whitfield took a couple of good place kicks (something that we will have to do in every game next season) as Twyford came at us looking for the equalizer before half time, but with Dyer and Breedon in defence and with the help of the midfield kept Twyford at bay. Just before half time Whitfield made a good double save from a corner to make sure we were in the lead at half time.

Half time 1-0.

The half time team talk was that I wanted to know why you were all looking so worn out and Watkins told me that it was hard out there and he would be the coach and I could go and play (I would love to go out with you as you are a great little team but I would still be too good for the other team at the moment!). The real reason you were all so worn out was you all had put in maximum effort in the first half.

The second half kicked off and we played some really good football all over the pitch with Watkins, Hamilton, Joyce and Dyer playing the ball to each other as we made 5 passes on several occasions and looked like we would soon get another chance to score. Hardcastle and Batup kept the ball away from our goal with some great tackling and passing to a team mate. Whitfield and Breedon came on and were straight into the action on the left hand side with Whitfield taking some good throw ins down the line (Thursday nights practice). Cornish who was now in goal made a couple of good saves as the game was going to end to end. Dyer controlled a pass with his back to goal and played it the way he was facing back to Watkins with his second touch (just what we have been working on in training to pass the ball with the second or third touch before the player from the other team has a chance to tackle you).Breedon won the ball in midfield and played the ball forward for Joyce who beat 2 players before slotting home with his left foot to become the second cobra to score double figures this sesaon  .

Full time 2-0.

Scorers ,Hamilton,Joyce.

Well done to Hardcastle for winning the king cobra for his great effort and cool overhead kick to clear the ball away from danger.

Well done to Dyer for winning the moment of the match for his great two touch pass.

Today cobras you all played some really good football in all areas of the pitch with the defenders making some good tackles ,the midfield passing the ball around to each other and the strikers chasing the forward balls to put the other team under pressure ,you all gave a lot of effort today please keep it up.

Paul
